Legacy Directional Delivers Exceptional Results Across Three Well Pads in the Delaware Basin

Legacy Directional Drilling recently partnered with a leading Houston-based energy company, known for its extensive Permian Basin operations, to deliver outstanding performance across three well pads in West Texas and New Mexico. Leveraging their proprietary drilling motors and industry expertise, Legacy achieved significant milestones and a superior safety record throughout the project.

Pad 1, located in Eddy County, New Mexico, marked the beginning of this successful collaboration. Over 6,113.9 hours worked, Legacy’s motors achieved an impressive 98.11% success rate, completing 52 out of 53 runs without issues. This strong performance set the tone for the subsequent well pads.

The second phase of the project took place on Pads 2 and 3 in Culberson County, Texas, where Legacy’s expertise was on full display. At Pad 2, the team completed several single-run laterals using RSS technology in a 6 1/8” hole. They also completed several single-run curves and laterals in a 6 1/8” hole. In the 8 3/4” hole on the pad, they completed several single-run verticals.

On Pad 2, the Legacy team achieved an average spud-to-total-depth (TD) time of 11.34 days, with a peak performance of 5,823 feet drilled in a single 24-hour period.

At Pad 3, the team has improved upon the performance metrics achieved on Pad 2, reducing the average spud-to-TD time by 10%, averaging only 8.3 days. At Pad 3, they’ve also drilled an impressive 6,203 feet in a single 24-hour period. At both Pads 2 and 3, Legacy’s motors have achieved a 100% success rate, completing a total of 26 runs without issues.
